| Wednesday, June 21, 2006 Not a little has transpired since I last blogged... Hmm.. went back to school again to study a few days back... And of course, the highlight of the weekend... ![]() The Year 1s at the first tournament of the June-July season, the U17, on Saturday... Didn't go too badly I guess... We still managed to prove that VJ has the best Men's Epee Team of the JCs, but we still have to work really hard if we want to do well in the Inter-School... Though I have to stop thinking about that and think more about CT2... Chermin fared the best, winning 2 of 4 duels in the preliminary round, and then thrashing his CJC counterpart to get into the Round of 16, in which, unfortunately, he met Daniel Foo from PRC and got taken out 15-9... But not after putting up a reasonable fight... His opponent didn't really pull away until the 3rd segment... But then again, he hasn't been on form since FSI, so I guess Chermin was kinda lucky as well... Still, not a bad performance for one that has touched real equipment for only 3 DAYS, against one who has fenced for 4 years... Heheh... Not to mention that for the second year running, the JC fencer who lasted the longest in the tournament was from VJ... Go VJ! So some (more) pictures: ![]() Alex (on the right) and his round robin ![]() HuaZhou (the left hander) and his round robin ![]() ZhongQi (on the right) and his round robin ![]() Chermin (with the black shoes) in his DE. Guess he moves the best of the lot (He totally octaved his opponent to death... Poor guy didn't know what hit him... he kept doing the same thing over and over again, and kept getting hit the same way). Still, its early days yet.. Good experience, and good attempt, but the ultimate aim will still be Novices... Oh and thanks for sacrificing the one day of studying for this =) So evidently I went down to support them... Unfortunately I was feeling kinda weird throughout... as in physically... felt very weak, tired, aching, cold, hot, sore throat... But I had to keep yelling at them "DISTANCE!! FOCUS!! BACK OFF!" plus having to exert by demonstrating how to do circular sixte and octaves and quartes.. Kept symptoms at bay by dosing myself with Strepsils from 7-11.. and on top of that, there were about 30 plus CJC people yelling instructions or cheering for their own side, so I had to employ every muscle I was introduced to in St. John to make myself audible... At the end I felt totally dead, so after Chermin went down to Daniel Foo, I quickly said "bye" and left.... Thank goodness for the Nort East Line with its interchange at Outram which emptied the train a little... My legs were killing me more than they have ever done in AGI or NDP.. At Outram I got a seat and fell asleep almost instantly (and who cares about the people who think I fell asleep so that I wouldn't need to give up my seat to another person who needed it more) and almost missed Kembangan... Went home and discovered I had a fever and put myself to sleep quickly... Sunday: Fever abaited, but left me with a sore throat... Kept zao sia-ing at church... blah Monday: Totally lost my voice!! I was speaking with a really really low tone punctuated by moments where my voice would snap and go so high it's almost inaudible... I know not a few people who would give much for the entertainment of hearing me speak with a high pitched voice =D Haha, well pity you didn't see me yesterday... Went to school to study with Enjie, as mentioned above... At 7-11 where I bought biscuits for lunch, the woman was giving me weird looks... Like she thought I had throat cancer, or emphysema, or something... Anyway I beeped and whistled through the day like R2D2 gone wrong... Tuesday to today: Voice more normal, but serious serious cough... Insomnia due to cough and blahblahblah.... Something called laryngitis or whatever... So eating numerous apples and healthy stuff... Oh well... Just praying it doesn't trigger my asthma again... Alright, anyway I shall get back to finding out about "Measurement and Analysis of Growth in Microorganisms"... Cheerio, and to all readers, wishing you a healthier last week of hols than me... Oh yes... 1. My sister's coming back from Spain tomorrow! 2. Spain won 3-1! Waha! A penalty is a cowardly way to score - Pele I agree... but if you get into the situation where you foul someone so badly that you get penalised, I guess you asked for it too eh... ~JcZw~ at 4:19 pm
