| Saturday, May 27, 2006 My body hates chinese =( I slept late last night (owing to the long nap I had in the afternoon) and woke up late today.... and when I tried to study chinese in the afternoon, I had a massive headache suddenly that felt like my brain was being blown out of my ears and so had to retire to my bed (or rather, mattress) again, when I had a lot of weird dreams. I think my endocrine system secretes some hormone that tries to purge chinese from my body, so that it can remain at an "optimum stable state". Ok skeptcism aside, its time to forget about other activities and concentrate on Chinese.... Its like tidying a room and clearing out the distractions... "Fencing.... throw out" "Common Tests.... throw out" "St. John.... throw out" like mentally preparing for a competition.. visualisation and all that blah. At present I guess Chinese is sharing my mental space with God which is always there And its also time to cast aside all unbelief in myself, and in God's ability to justify the effort that I put in. Somehow, maybe its cos many people have been telling this time would be THE time, but I feel more at peace with it than last year, where the failure at HCL was still rankling slightly. Of course, if it does not turn out well, as there is also a chance of, then I'll think about that at the appropriate time. Maybe I would call it a day then... this term has been filled with too much mental and physical strain due to chinese that I don't think I'd be able to cope in a more stressful Term 3. But before I cleared my brain (figuratively), it suddenly occured to me that FSI and SJ camp are on the same days!! Ahh nuts! On top of that, Inter-School and N-comp also clash. Blah. Hmm... My fencing seems to have improved like it has never improved before... Maybe it's cos I've finally learned to counter attack... But also could be due to my V-blade's wire breaking... Cos now Coach has lent me an SM blade with a different grip and its balance is really really good! Even though it's not as light as my blade, but it feels lighter cos the grip and the blade balance each other really well.... Very easy to do binds and counters and double circular parries without losing control of the blade... Now I can actually do an effective disengage =) And not only that, but the flexibility of the SM blade allows it to have a decent flick capabilty! Man, I could go on and on about it the whole night... Bottomline: Its really good! But this brings me to another dilemna.... Is it me that improved? Or is it because of the blade... In other words, for the sake of my fencing should I trade in my blade? Or should I consider assembling my own from scratch? Whatever the case, I hope I can do well in the Inter-School.... If it includes, say, Pasir Ris Cres, and Tanglin, or SMU, its going to be a really tough fight... Hardly the equal playing field of an A-division tournament that one would expect. Ah well.... let's just take things one at a time eh? ~JcZw~ at 7:25 pm
