Sorry... no post for so long... cos these few days certain parties have been coming my house to use the comp... heheh... and use my INK! And my WATER! Okay fine... its probably malaysia's water anyway...

Every time I attend CCA activities I am always amazed by two things: The commitment of some members that can be astounding and worthy of respect and admiration; or the lack thereof. I don't know why its like this anyway. I doubt many people actually LIKE the training, or actually LIKE doing first aid and doing pumping, TOC, blahblah. There are some, of course and that can be normally found too... But I think for many people the reason that they are commited is because of friends. At least for me, even though I was the cca leader and all that... The part I enjoyed most about CCA was interacting with the friends... all the more over the trainings, even if I did enjoy them too to a certain extent (which is why its sad to leave anyway, cos FA can still be done in JC if you simply join FAU).

Watching the cadets training these few days, sometimes I am very struck at the commitment some of them can display. Acts of staying just a little longer to finish a debrief, moving quickly to pack up fast, asking friends to come for training, makes one feel that... for these people... whether they do well for competition or not this coming year, they will do well one day. If they don't do well in this mock comp... it won't be for the lack of trying. I feel really really reallyyy proud to have been their senior for the past 1-3 years =) For others it is also not neccesarily their fault they can't come, cos of parental n all that yes... For most of us we will get that sooner or later. Its not the result that really counts.. its the effort that is put in. And when we see people putting in effort... its an encouraging reminder that there are still people that do want to do their best in everything they do. The sad fact, of course, is that sometimes things just don't turn out the way we want them to.

So... for tomorrow's mock comp... may everyone just put in their full commitment, and everything else will take care of itself. Whether you get first, last, is not important (I recall a certain AC team in 2001 mock comp only got 120+ upon 400? heh)

"The team that wins the competition is not neccesarily the best first aiders. They may just be the best actors."
-Dr Patrick Tan

Indeed. Its true! Do your best to be both! haha...
